Bulldogs Beat Trojans in Friday’s Only ICL Contest

Veteran Steve Busby had a single, a homer, and four RBI’s, to lead the Reading Bulldogs to a 15-5 win over the Arlington Trojans on Friday at Summer Street Field. The game was the only ICL game on the schedule. Zac Talis and Corey DiLoreto each had three hits, and Hank Oringer, Johnny Hayes, and Rosario Missiti, added two each to lead the Bulldogs’ 16 hit offense.  Jack Burke (5-2) picked up the win in relief of Tim Woods.

There are no ICL games scheduled for Saturday.

Bulldogs-Royals Suspended Game will Resume on Monday in Lexington

Tuesday night’s Reading Bulldogs vs Somerville Royals game, that was halted due to a power failure, will be resumed on Monday night, August 1 at Lexington High at 8:00 PM.

The game will be picked up at the spot when the field went into darkness. Somerville was leading 3-1 with Hank Oringer at the plate for the Bulldogs. There was a 1-0 count on Oringer with Reading runners at first and third with two outs.

Americans Win, Sullivan Throws Shutout for Reds, Chiefs Edge Royals

Christian Rosati went the distance and evened his record at 3-3 when the Americans nipped the Merchants 4-3 on Wednesday at Walsh Field. John Jennings, Dave Center, and Nick Herzog had two hits each to lead the Americans at the plate. Jake O’Rourke had three of the Merchants hits nine hits and Joe Barry added a two hits, including a double. Rosati struck out six and didn’t walk a batter.

In Watertown, Bill Sullivan improved to a perfect 5-0 on the season when the Reds shutout the Blue Sox 3-0 at Victory Field. Sullivan struck out five and allowed five hits in his route going effort. Mike Samko’s two RBI single in the second inning, when the Reds scored all of their runs, was the big hit in the game. Aidan Freeburg (3-2) look the loss for Lexington.

Jordan Pallazola had two doubles and three RBI, and Mike Andre drove in a run with a single, when the Chiefs edged the Royals 4-3 at Maplewood. Mike DiCato retired all six batters he faced in the sixth and seventh innings to save it for Tim Dunphy (4-1-1). John Collette had a perfect 3 for 3 night and Wagner Gomez added two hits and a couple of RBI’s for Somerville.

There are no ICL games scheduled for Thursday.

Chiefs & Blue Sox Win, Power Failure Halts Game at Trum

Sam Kasten (2-1) got the win and Anthony Sullivan recorded the save, by striking out the side in the seventh, when the Chiefs edged the Americans 5-4 at Morelli Field. Juan Portes had a double and single and three RBI’s, and Tony Serino three hits to lead the Chiefs.  Christian Rosati had three hits and an RBI for the Americans.

In Lexington, Drew Brzozowski picked up the win when the Blue Sox beat the Merchants 4-2. Julian Alvarez hit his third homer of the season and drove in two runs to pace the Blue Sox. Jake O’Rourke had two of the Merchants four hits in the game. Chris Law recorded the save.

The Bulldogs at Royals game at Trum Field was suspended in the top of the second inning due to a power failure. The Royals were leading 3-1 and the game will resumed with the Bulldogs batting. The date that the game will be resumed will be determined.

Samko’s 6 RBI’s Lead Reds, Bulldogs’ Hall Throws 2-Hitter, Chiefs Beat Merchants

Mike Samko had a double, two singles, and six RBI’s, to lead the Watertown Reds to a 13-1 win over the Arlington Trojans at Bentley University. Will Brennan had a perfect 3 for 3 night with two RBI’s, and Sean Callahan-Montague and Mac Jacobson had a couple of hits each to lead the Reds 13 hit offense. Jonathan Bishop evened his record at 3-3 when he picked up the win in the darkness shortened five inning affair.

In other Monday night action, the Reading Bulldogs got a complete game two-hitter from Cody Hall and defeated the Somerville Royals 3-1 at Endicott College. Rosario Missiti led the Bulldogs with two hits and an RBI, and Hank Oringer (triple) and Mike DeDonato (double) drove in the other Reading runs. Hall, now 3-1, struck out three.

Mitchell Clegg and Mike DiCato, combined on a four-hitter when the Andre Chiefs scored eight times in the bottom of the fifth inning on the way to a 10-2 win over the Wakefield Merchants at Maplewood. Jordan Pallazola, Ryan Sonberg, and Mike Burgoyne, each had two RBI’s for the Chiefs. Clegg (4-3) struck out nine in his five innings of work.

On Tuesday, the Chiefs visit the Melrose Americans at Morelli Field at 7:30 PM, the Lexington Blue Sox host the Merchants at Lexington High at 8:00 PM, and the Bulldogs and Royals meet again at Trum Field in Somerville in an 8:15 PM start.

Americans, Merchants & Reds Record Sunday Wins

John Jennings, Christian Rosati, and Tom Petry had two hits each to back six shutout innings thrown by Kyle Autilio (2-1) when the Americans shutout the Arlington Trojans 3-0 at Summer Street Field. Brendan McDonough picked up his first save.

In Wakefield, Nick Napoli had a homer and three RBI’s, Scot Searles three hits and a double, and Lou Tarrantino a couple of hits and an RBI, when the Merchants beat the Reading Bulldogs 9-5.  Steve Keskinidis (2-3) got the complete game win. Mike DeDonato, Johnny Hayes, and Rosario Missiti, each had two hits for the Bulldogs.

In other Sunday action, the Watertown Reds beat the Somerville Royals 5-3 at Victory Field.

On Monday, the Reds host the Trojans at Bentley University at 6:00 PM, the Royals visit the Bulldogs at Endicott College at 8:00 PM, and the Merchants and Andre Chiefs meet at Maplewood Park in Malden at 8:15 PM.

Merchants Beat Trojans in ICL’s Lone Friday Game

The Wakefield Merchants beat the Arlington Trojans 7-2 at Summer Street Field in the only ICL game that was scheduled on Friday evening. Joe Barry and Jake O’Rourke had two hits each to lead the Merchants offense and John Russolillo (2-2) went the distance to record the win.

There are no ICL games on Saturday.

On Sunday, the Trojans host the Melrose Americans at Summer Street at 4:00 PM, the Reading Bulldogs visit the Merchants at Walsh Field in Wakefield also at 4:00 PM, and the Somerville Royals and Watertown Reds meet at Victory Field in Watertown at 5:30 PM.

Americans Win in 8th, Reds’ Dama Fires Shutout, Chiefs Beat Blue Sox

The Melrose Americans scored three times in the top of the eighth inning, to break a 3-3 tie, and went on to beat the Wakefield Merchants 6-4 at Walsh Field. Dan Cacciola had two hits and two RBI, Anthony Licciardello had two hits and an RBI, and Austin Masel with two hits, including a triple, led the Americans at the plate. Shawn Smegiln (1-3) went 7.1 innings to get the win and Kyle Autilio recorded the save. Lou Tarrantino had two hits with an RBI for the Merchants.

Watertown’s Aric Dama (5-1) got his ICL best fifth win when he shutout the Reading Bulldogs on three hits, 1-0 at Victory Field. Justin Forman, who had two doubles in the game, drove in Sean Callahan-Montague with the Reds’ run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Dama struck out five and didn’t issue a walk. Jack Burke (4-2) pitched well for Reading but took the loss.

At Maplewood, brothers Matt (3 innings) and Mike (4 innings) DiCato handled the pitching duties and Juan Portes hit a three run homer to lead the Andre Chiefs to a 6-4 win over the Lexington Blue Sox. Mike DiCato (4-1) got the win while Jimmy Hill (1-2) was tagged with the loss. Peter Copa had an RBI double and Steve Gamable had two hits and an RBI for the Chiefs. Justin Silvestro had two hits and an RBI for the Blue Sox.

There are no ICL games on Thursday.

Reds & Blue Sox Prevail in Tuesday’s ICL Action

The Watertown Reds got two home runs from Will Brennan on the way to beating the Melrose Americans 10-3 at Morelli Field. Bill Sullivan (4-0) picked up the win for the Reds.

At Trum Field, Tony Annino (2-1) threw 5.1 strong innings of relief, striking out 10, to lead the Lexington Blue Sox to a 6-1 win over the Somerville Royals. Thomas Russo and Frank Frias each had a two run single for the Blue Sox. Wyatt Stanley (1-2) took the loss.

Blue Sox & Chiefs in Monday Wins

Justin Silvestro’s two run single in the bottom of the fifth inning was the key hit when the Blue Sox edged the Reading Bulldogs 3-2 in Lexington. Matt Karis (1-1) went six strong innings to get the win and Chris Law recorded his fourth save of the year. Mike DeDonato had an RBI triple and Kyle Devin added two hits for the Bulldogs. Wayne Lundgren (3-2) took the loss.

At Maplewood, the Chiefs scored three times in the bottom of the fifth inning to break a 1-1 tie and beat the Trojans 4-1. Mitchell Clegg (3-3) outdueled Evan Walsh to get the complete game win. Mike Burgoyne led the Chiefs’ offense with two hits, including a two RBI double, and two runs scored.

On Tuesday, the Americans host the Watertown Reds at Morelli Field in Melrose at 7:30 PM and the Blue Sox visit the Somerville Royals at Trum Field at 8:15 PM.
