Chiefs Beat Bombers 4-1 in Lone Saturday Game

Southpaw Tim Dunphy (Cambridge, MA/Brandeis)tossed a four-hitter, striking out 11 while allowing no earned runs, to lead the Chiefs past the Bombers 4-1 at Tufts University in the only ICL game on the Saturday schedule. Catcher Tim Quinn (Paxton, MA/Assumption) went three for three including a two RBI double to give the Chiefs the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning. Juan Portes (Malden MA, Minnesota Twins) reached base four times on the afternoon going two for two with an RBI single and two walks. Mike Andre (Medford, MA/Merrimack) drove in the Chiefs' first run with a fifth inning single.
Four ICL games are on tap for Father's Day. The Chiefs and Americans meet at Playstead Park in Medford at 1:30 PM, the Bombers play the Merchants in Wakefield and the Bulldogs host the Tanners in Reading in 5:00 PM starts. At 5:30 PM the Reds will host the Blue Sox at Victory Field in Watertown.
