The Cassell Club was founded by the late, legendary Tom Cassell in 1972. Tom was drafted as a catcher by the Cleveland Indians and coached the Cassell Club until he lost a valiant battle to cancer in December, 2002. Bob Nasson, Sr., who had assisted Tom, took over the team in 2002 with the assistance of Tom’s son, Jimmy (Howie) Cassell, and managed for five years. In 2008, Bobby Nasson, who played from 1998 to 2003, will become only the third manager in the team’s history. Bobby will be assisted by coaches Gavin McDonough, and player-coach Mike Parissi.

The team plays its home games at historic Trum Field in Somerville, which has seen the likes of former major leaguers and Somervillians, Shanty Hogan, Charlie Osgood, and Skinny Graham. In addition to these major league players, Cassell has been fortunate to have had Somerville natives, Roy Peterson, Billy Fahey, John Olson, and Craig Owens, professionally drafted. Recent draftees include Hugh Quattlebaum, Mark O'Sullivan, Ted Dziuba, Matt Bishop, Kevin Boggan,Jim Fuller, and current members, Bryan Lambert and Jeff Paquette."

The Cassell Club prides itself on great fan support and loyalty. The team is sponsored solely with donations from family, friends, and fans. Cassell has established itself as one of the premier amateur baseball teams in the ICL, winning the last three regular season pennants, and the championship in 2006.

Even though the 2008 roster is complete, the team is always looking for outstanding young talent. Anyone looking for information may email rnasson@aol.com or call 781-248-8726. Lastly, any donations to help out the team would be greatly appreciated.
